46. Families Staying Together
After WWII, the fabric of many relationships was tested as soldiers returned home to a world that had drastically changed during their absence. The prolonged separation between partners, coupled with the extreme stress of war, led to an increase in divorce rates.

During the war, both men and women found themselves in situations that strained traditional marital bonds. Many women, having gained a new sense of independence and having faced loneliness and uncertainty, engaged in affairs. Similarly, soldiers, stationed far from home and facing the constant threat of death, also sought comfort in relationships outside of their marriages.
