Community Curfew
This person’s HOA enforces an evening curfew that the whole community has to adhere to. It’s not for safety reasons, however. No one can take a walk in their own community after 8 pm because it causes dogs in the neighborhood to start barking with excitement. This is obviously a huge, offensive disruption, so it’s better to just make everyone stay inside.
There are so many things wrong with this rule. First off, this rule is completely unfair to people who work late! What if they don’t get home and eat dinner until after 8 pm, but they want quality outdoor time in their own community? Secondly, barking dogs are just part of suburban life. Sure, it’s a nuisance when there’s a dog who barks nonstop during all hours of the night, but dogs barking at passersby is just normal behavior. Lastly, 8 pm is NOT late. Who is sleeping that early?!
