“It’s as Backawards as Can Be”: Things in American Culture That Make No Sense to the Rest of the World

One fellow American shared that they think the amount of fear in the US is weird and out of control. Everyone seems to be afraid of anyone who isn’t like them. Also, it seems like the media is always publishing stories that cause moral panic about things that aren’t really that bad. (We hate to break it to you, but most of those wild Gen Z TikTok trends we hear about are fake).

Are there things in the US that we should be afraid of? Absolutely. But, it shouldn’t be your neighbor or your local, diverse community. Differences make life interesting, and meeting someone who sees the world in a different way is a great way to learn something new. Instead of approaching life with fear, maybe we should approach it with some curiosity.
