#25: Going Rogue
Before someone goes into an interview, it’s standard procedure to send a pre-interview rundown containing the questions that will be asked. This gives the interviewee time to prep answers and feel comfortable. In a 2013 interview with Lindsay Lohan, David Letterman decided to go rogue and throw in some curveball questions.
At one point, David asks her, “Aren’t you supposed to be in rehab right now?” Yikes, David. Lindsay obviously wasn’t warned ahead of time that David would be trying to joke about her substance abuse issues. She looks very uncomfortable and, frankly, ticked off. At one point, Lindsay refuses to answer a question and says, “We’re not doing that… this is my show now.” David treated the situation like a comedy bit, but looking back on the footage almost 10 years later, it’s cringey.
