We have already talked about the ways that our memories can be unreliable; what we remember might not be the absolute truth. But what if I told you that even your perception of reality can be unreliable?
Confirmation bias is a well-studied tendency that we all have to accept evidence that confirms things we already think we know and ignore anything else. Or, as Simon and Garfunkel put it, “A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.”
