Dear Aunt Delta
During Elvis’s residence at Graceland, it was an intimate family abode shared with notable relatives, most notably his aunt, Delta Presley Biggs. Following the King’s untimely departure, Delta continued to call the estate home, maintaining its familial embrace. It wasn’t until five years after Elvis’s passing that the doors of Graceland opened to the public, transforming it into a revered museum of musical history.
However, not all of Graceland’s rooms were readily accessible to eager explorers. Aunt Delta cherished one space above all others – the kitchen. This culinary haven, integral to her daily life, remained a sanctum off-limits to the public gaze until the year 1993 when Delta, too, bid farewell to her cherished Graceland, and the full tapestry of its history became open for all to discover and cherish.
