Léo Major, a Canadian soldier, achieved an almost mythical feat of heroism during WWII by single-handedly liberating the Dutch town of Zwolle from German occupation. In a remarkable display of courage and determination, Major embarked on this audacious mission motivated by vengeance for his fallen comrade.

Despite losing an eye earlier in the war, Major’s resolve was undiminished. Armed with nothing but his rifle and grenades, he infiltrated the town under the cover of darkness, sowing confusion and fear among the German troops with guerrilla tactics. Through a series of daring engagements, he convinced the enemy that they were facing a much larger force, leading to their withdrawal. By dawn, Zwolle was free.
